Get Adobe Flash player

*In order for Redirect Bacon to work correctly on your server, you must have Mod Rewrite turned on. If you have any problems with the software, then Mod Rewrite is most likely turned off. You will need to contact your server company in order to resolve this. We can not help with this. Mod Rewrite is a normal application and your web host should have no problem turning it on for you. Some web hosts have Mod Rewrite turned off by default.

**Within this folder you should see this document along with 2 other folders. One folder is labeled “NewDomain” and is used for a new domain:) Meaning nothing else will be used on this domain other than the Redirect Bacon software.

The other folder is “r” which is for existing domains This file is for a website you already have on the domain, but also want to add Redirect Bacon to. For example, this may be an established blog or website. And you want to use that domain for your redirects. This is the file you would use for this.

***You will also be sent a Key code that you will need in order to authorize your software purchase. Please make sure you have it before trying to install the software. It has been sent in a separate email. You have unlimited website use, but we have set the limit of uses at 3 by default to stop people from sharing our software. If you need more licenses, please submit a ticket at http://baconsupport.com.

***New Domain***

*If you add a website to this domain at a later date, the software will no longer work. So please understand this domain will only be used for your Redirect Bacon software.

**You will need to create a database that you will later use to complete the install of your software. I won’t get into how to create a database here. If you are not sure, just try Youtube.com as there are quite a few videos explaining how to create a database there.

First, unzip the file that was sent to you labeled “RedirectBacon.zip” onto your computer.

Open the file labeled “RedirectBacon”. Within this file there are two more files. Open the file labeled “NewDomain”. You will see 8 files that will be copied and uploaded to your server inside the “NewDomain” folder. One file that needs to be included that you may not see is the .htaccess file. If you do not see this file, please right click and select the “Show hidden files” tab to show hidden files within the folder.

Now open up your ftp program. I personally use Filezilla. It is a free program and I use it for everything I do. You can find it at http://filezilla-project.org/

Copy and paste all of the files inside the RedirectBacon folder into your ftp client. You do not upload the folder itself. You need to open the folder and upload the files inside the folder. Depending on the speed of your internet connection and server, this should only take a minute or two.

Filezilla

Once your upload is complete, refresh your domain and you should see a page that says “Please enter your License Key here and click the Activate button.” With the URL http://YourWebsiteURL.com/welcome/active

***Existing Domain***

*When you use an existing domain, because of the way the software is coded, there will be an additional letter on your redirect, r. So a redirect looks like http://redirectbacon.com/r/offer. There is no additional letter on a new domain install.

**You will need to create a database that you will later use to complete the install of your software. I won’t get into how to create a database here. If you are not sure, just try Youtube.com as there are quite a few videos explaining how to create a database there.

For an existing domain, the install is different than for a new domain. For an existing domain, we need to upload the entire folder to your server. So to begin with, unzip the file that is labeled “RedirectBacon.zip”. Then, open the unzipped folder labeled “RedirectBacon”. Inside this file will be two more files. One with “NewDomain” and one with “r”. We want to upload the file “r” to our server.

Now open up your ftp program. I personally use Filezilla. It is a free program and I use it for everything I do. You can find it at http://filezilla-project.org/

Place the folder “r” onto your server in your public HTML folder. If you already have a website installed on this domain, you will see the folders for the website here as well. Some folders for WordPress will include wp-admin, wp-content and so on. Be careful NOT to install the “r” folder inside an existing website file! Depending on the speed of your internet connection and server, this should only take a minute or two. Remember, just upload the one folder “r” and its contents.

When you are finished, at the bottom of Filezilla you should see “Successful Transfers” and a number somewhere around 330+ files that were transferred. If there are any “Failed Transfers”, you had a problem with your upload and will probably need to start over.

Once you are finished uploading your files, type in your URL into your browser with a /r at the end. Example: http://YourWebsiteURL.com/r

You will be taken to a page that says “Please enter your License Key here and click the Activate button.” With the URL http://YourWebsiteURL.com/r/welcome/active

Under this is the text box where you’ll enter the product Key that you were sent in a separate email. Enter the product key and then Click the “Activate” button. You should see a green box with the text, “Redirect Bacon has been activated successfully! Please click on the “Next Step” button to configure your database.” Click on the “Next Step” button.
